Ravintsara Essential Oil

Cinnamomum camphora (Cineole CT) | Steam Distilled | Madagascar

Sourced from the highland rainforests of Madagascar, our organically crafted Ravintsara Essential Oil is steam distilled from the wildcrafted green leaves of the Cinnamomum camphora tree. With its crisp, clean, and mildly spicy eucalyptus-like aroma, Ravintsara is a powerful, multi-purpose essential oil prized for its ability to support both the respiratory and immune systems.

Ravintsara is often mistaken for Ravensara, but these are two completely different oils with distinct botanical origins, therapeutic uses, and scent profiles.

  • Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora): Distilled from the camphor tree, high in 1,8-Cineole

  • Ravensara (Ravensara aromatica): Distilled from a different evergreen species, with more herbaceous notes
They should not be used interchangeably.

Interestingly, the Cinnamomum camphora species produces three distinct essential oils, depending on growing conditions and chemotype:

  • Camphor Oil (Hon Sho) – High in camphor

  • Ho Wood Oil (Ho Sho) – High in linalool

  • Ravintsara Oil (Yu Sho) – High in 1,8-Cineole (the chemotype used here)
